She's born to Harvey Welker (a Native American father) and Julie Welker (an African-American mom). Her mother works as a real-estate agent, while her father has a degree in engineering. She graduated from the Germantown Friends School in the city of Germantown in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, in the year 1994.
