Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a site with video and blogs looking at the portrayal of women by popular media. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. She is the founder as well as the executive director for Feminist Frequency an educational not-for-profit website that explores representations of women in pop media narratives. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is the primary focus of her work. However, Sarkeesian also strives to raise awareness about things like targeting and bullying of women on the internet. Sarkeesian, who holds an MS in Social and Political thought in the field of social and political thought from York University, is also popular as a public presenter. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Inquiring about gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 when she was studying at the University. The ambitious lady planned to begin a web series on gender representation within video games, and was herself the target for an online harassment campaign. The harassment, however, did not deter her.
