Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She's co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist, philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. She is also the founder of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. She emigrated to Greece to England at the age of 16 and received an MA from Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to hold the position of president in the famous debating group The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took on the role. Her popularity as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she finished her degree. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided critiques of the political situation. The fame she gained enabled her to get a variety of famous people to share their opinions regarding current affairs, the as well as politics and culture. Arianna was famous when she decided to become an Independent Candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the Governor Davis. Arianna was also part of an initiative in Detroit that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. Forbes listed her as the top female in the media industry in 2009. The newspaper was ranked as at 12th place on their list. The Guardian also included her on the top 100 list of media in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the head of the media division at AOL. It was comprised of several AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. While she enjoyed a strong friendship with both her father and mother but it was their connection that helped shape her. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. When she was 16years old, she emigrated from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In college, she was a member of the Cambridge Union, a college debate club. The third female president and first foreigner, she held the position of head of the Cambridge Union. In 1972, her master's in Economics was conferred. Following the graduation ceremony, she worked as a journalist and TV host. She also appeared in the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from Bernard Levin.
