Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. After moving from Greece to England from Greece at the age of 16 and obtaining an MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. As the first foreign student to serve as president of the highly regarded debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the position. Her success as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she finished her degree. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online platform for voice that gave critical opinions on the politics. Her fame and popularity helped to get a number of prominent contributors to share their opinions on politics news and culture. Arianna gained fame when she made the decision to run for a non-partisan position during the California recall vote to succeed the then governor Davis. Alongside this she also led the Detroit Project to develop fuel efficient cars. She was named The Most Popular Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th spot on that list. The same year, the Guardian listed her among the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. named her president of their media company in 2011 after they acquired The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post was joined by the other AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list or Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. Her life was shaped through her relationship with her mother and her bond with her father, despite being extremely close to her father. In her early years, she displayed the qualities of a leader that she is still known for. at the age of 16 she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. As a student she was a member of the Cambridge Union's college debating societies and eventually was its first foreign and female president. In 1972, she earned an advanced degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a critic for a newspaper column and as a host on television. She was a guest on Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own books with his assistance.
