Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his home with volunteering in the community. His first family is that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids raised in Eufala through Lucious Selmon. A second reason was he is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the nation's best lineman. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home the national title twice. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. After college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. Then he started his career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. While he was in for college, he was the head coach of the 1975 team. In 1993, he was appointed the associate director of Athletics at University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame named his in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
